This post has been very slow in coming. I still blame it on the heat in Bangkok. When the family was in Paris, the generous patron of Sala Thai invited us to dine at his restaurant. The dinner was a medley of specially-created dishes. My favorite is the kanom-jeen (noodles made from fermented rice) and lobster with a spicy sauce. The stuffy Bangkokian weather has made me lost my appetite, but, strangely, all that I have been thinking about is the lobster kanom-jeen.
The four wines for the night:

Lobster sauteed in garlic and pepper – delicious!

The star of the night – kanom-jeen lobster.

Now, if only someone could recreate this dish for me…………………………………..

Update (Nov. 10, 2008):  This post has been edited.  See my About page for details.
Le Dome does not need any introduction. When we were last there, the place was bombarded with tourists as usual. But who could blame them? The place has great seafood. The restaurant was thoughtful enough to give us a red, literally, private room. The room was covered in red velvet from walls to ceiling. Even the carpet and chandelier were red. I would have much prefer a larger table outside since the room was really narrow and small. Our chairs were pulled up against the walls. It was a little claustrophobic for me. But we all had a great meal.  Of course.

Our lunch wine – D likes it ‘coz there was no cockroach smell?????????

Friture de Céteaux, Sauce Tartare.  I love this.  I offered it to everyone but in the end it was me who eat it all.  Only L got to eat a piece of it.  Haaaa….

Mouclade de Moules de Bouchot – to get the kids to eat, we told them these were marshmallows. Ha!!!

Plateaux de Fruits de Mer with different kinds of oysters – surprisingly, J finished all of it by himself!

Bouillabaisse de Marseillaise – that I did share with L. Unfortufnately, I was already stuffed with the ceteaux and couldn’t eat but a few sips of the soup.

Red!
